In keeping with this month’s theme of games, I thought I’d get into the spirit and share some ideas for winning with SEO.
SEO is one of the most fascinating subjects in online marketing and partly because it’s so mysterious. There’s so much information out there, it’s really hard to know which direction to go in, especially if you’ve never done it before.
I think what makes SEO so desirable is the size of the prize. The thought of appearing at the top of the search engines above all of your competitors and attracting in a flood of new business along the way is enough to make any ambitious business owner go weak at the knees.
So SEO is the process of doing things that will increase your website’s reputation and credibility to help you rank higher in the natural search results.
As with all worthwhile things, they often require some hard work. I’m not going to sugarcoat the situation, however, with these exciting games, you can harness the power of competition to give you the staying power to get your hands on the prize.
1) Start a Reviews Battle
Positive reviews are a great way to build your reputation and show search engines that you are a great business. Find a friend who also runs a business that they wish to improve and challenge them to a review battle. The first company to reach 100 wins. It helps if you have a similar number of reviews to start with, but if not you can always have different goals.
2) The Green Content Challenge
Whilst it’s one of the more well-known aspects of SEO, it’s surprising how many people fall short when it comes to optimising your content for each of your target keywords in the most important places.
If your website uses WordPress, then there’s a fantastic game which already exists, In the Yoast SEO plugin, you’ll notice an indicator which tells you how well optimised each of your pages are. Keep updating your pages until each of your key landing pages are optimised.
3) Fastest Website Competition
One of the hottest areas of SEO in 2020 is the continued importance of page load times. The faster a website loads, the more users seem to like it. So naturally, faster websites are preferred by Google in their rankings.
Why not take every single competitor on the first page of Google for your number one keyword and document the page speed of their website. Then work with your developer to keep tweaking the code and content until yours is the fastest.
4) Guest Blog Bingo
One of the best ways to help your SEO is to get plenty of other websites which have a similar topic to add a link back to your website. This helps Google to assess your reputation and decide where to position your page in the rankings. The more quality links the better.
Firstly start by identifying 100 websites, blogs or news sites which are relevant to your industry and could potentially benefit from you sharing your expertise as an expert. Then start the process of approaching them with content ideas. This won’t be easy and may take some imaginative thinking, however with the goal in sight, at least you’ll know where you’re heading.
You won’t be able to get a post on every website on your hit list so make your milestones achievable to keep everyone motivated.
Now I hope you weren’t thinking you could cut out of this hard work to get your website ranking? Okay, there is a shortcut if you want to save a huge amount of TIME and EFFORT.
Now if there’s one thing for sure, it’s almost impossible to game the system these days. However, there are no rules against hiring the help of an experienced partner such as Go Websites to use their proven systems to get you these results without doing any of the hard work yourself.
